Refrigeration Evaporators

A+ Series® Air Coolers - Industrial Air Coolers - A+C

Details

The A+C – Centrifugal Fan Industrial Air Cooler is a floor mounted or ceiling hung air cooler for industrial refrigeration product cooler applications. Available for every industrial refrigeration system type and in a variety of configurations to match the design criteria. The A+C can be placed directly within the cooler or outside the space with front or top discharge duct arrangements. Centrifugal fans have several inherent benefits including:

Higher Resistance Handling: Centrifugal fans are better equipped to handle systems with high resistance, such as those with long ducts, filters, or tight spaces where air needs to be forced through.

Noise Reduction: Depending on the design and speed control, centrifugal fans can operate at lower noise levels compared to other types of fans, making them suitable for environments where noise is a concern.

Energy Efficiency: Centrifugal fans can be designed for variable speed operation, allowing them to adapt to changing heat load conditions. This improves energy efficiency by matching the fan's output to the required airflow for optimal heat exchange.

Specification

A+C - Centrifugal Fan-Coil

A+L - Axial Fan-Coil

Static-pressure capability

1 to 3 IWG (ideal for ducts, filters, air socks)

≤1.0 IWG suited to free discharge only

Air distribution

Ducted air flow, for air distribution

High-velocity jet of air leaving fans

Energy use

50–55 % fan efficiency with belt drive, higher BHP

60-75 % efficiency at low ΔP; 20–40 % less BHP

Noise profile

Lower blade-pass noise, more mechanical noise

Higher blade tip noise

Footprint & weight

Deeper (scroll + plenum) and heavier

Slim, light

Capital cost

~30–50 % higher (wheel, housing, belts)

Lowest first cost

Maintenance

Belts + bearings need regular service and replacement

Minimal service, easy access

Pick Centrifugal when:

  1. Ducts or diffusers demand higher static pressure
  2. Low sound level requirements

Pick Axial when:

  1. Discharge directly to space (blast freezers, cold rooms)
  2. Lowest kW/ton and weight drive decisions
  3. High face velocity and long throw are desired
