Cooking, Baking, Proofing, Drying 

Colmac has developed a proprietary coil design using 100% prime surface (no fins) for Spiral, Tunnel, and Oven OEM customers making equipment to safely and efficiently cook, bake, proof, and/or dry food products. The continuous serpentine coil design eliminates tube welds and greatly reduces the possibility of leaks in these heating coils, which typically operate with hot oil heat transfer fluids. All stainless steel construction is available in a number of corrosion resistant alloys (304L, 316L, AL6XN). The prime surface coil design has no fins which tend to lose their fin-tube bond over time with repeated temperature cycles. This same feature makes thorough cleaning of the prime surface coil simpler compared to fin-tube coils. 

Chilling, Freezing

Colmac is a world leader in the design and manufacture of heat exchanger coils used in food chilling, and freezing applications. Our unique offering of tube and fin patterns coupled with our wide range of tube and fin materials allows Colmac to meet the needs of virtually any application. Colmac continues to develop innovative coil solutions for the food processing industry. Corrosion resistant construction for coils subjected to harsh cleaners such as sodium hypochlorite and/or potassium hydroxide are available. Inline tube patterns and special designs are available which improve the performance of Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems. Colmac proprietary Anti-Microbial coil construction actively kills pathogens such as E-coli, Listeria monocytogenes, and Salmonella, which come in contact with the fins. Other Colmac innovations include 3-A Sanitary Design hygienic evaporator coil designs for the dairy industry which have been inspected by the USDA and approved for use in the cheese processing industry. Whether you are retrofitting old equipment or installing new, Colmac can custom design your chilling or freezing coil using any working fluid in a variety of configurations to best suit your needs. Coils can be arranged for Gravity Flooded, Pumped (Liquid Overfeed), Direct Expansion (DX), or Brine operation, using a wide range of working fluids such as: Halocarbons (HFC), Ammonia (R717), Carbon Dioxide (R744), Liquid Nitrogen (R728), Propylene Glycol, low temperature fluids Dynalene™, Paratherm™, Syltherm™, and others. Colmac is recognized as the world expert in applying all-aluminum coil construction to food chilling and freezing (see “The Aluminum Advantage"). Colmac patented Bimetallic Couplers (BiM™) have eliminated the need for flange union connections on all-aluminum coils and make the transition to stainless steel piping easily cleanable and sanitary, while eliminating the possibility for refrigerant leaks.

Critical Process Air Handling (CPA)

Air which is conditioned for production spaces in the food processing, pharmaceutical, and medical industries must be carefully filtered, cooled, and heated without introducing pathogens or other contaminants into the space. Colmac supplies cooling and heating coils for OEM critical process (CPA) air handling equipment which meet the requirements of precise heat transfer, cleanability, and corrosion resistance. Optional anti-microbial fin construction is available to insure that pathogens cannot exist on coil fin surfaces. CoilPRO software is available to qualified users to allow fast and accurate selection of chilled water or glycol cooling coils, pumped, flooded, or DX ammonia evaporators, hot water and steam heating coils, as well as heat recovery and wrap-around heat pipes.
