A number of new low-charge ammonia refrigeration technologies are now available to the refrigerated warehouse market. Advanced Direct Expansion (ADX®) ammonia uses a central engine room approach with its associated low cost and ease of maintenance combined with extremely lowcharge, direct expansion evaporators. Based on a growing number of installations in the USA, the total installed cost of these systems has been shown to be less than other ammonia refrigeration systems.
