The winners of the Controlled Environment Building Association (CEBA) Built By The Best 2023 awards were announced in November 2023. Colmac Coil extends heartfelt congratulations to each recipient of this prestigious award, as well as to all companies involved in these projects. It is an honor for Colmac Coil to have contributed to the winning projects in both the under $35 million and over $35 million categories by providing several freezer air coolers (evaporators) for each cold storage facility.
Buildings acknowledged with the CEBA 'Built By The Best' award bear the mark of some of the world's most innovative and intricate facilities, meeting the high standards set by CEBA.
The recipient of the over $35 million category for 2023 was Fisher Construction Group, recognized for constructing the NewCold facility in Lebanon, Indiana, United States. This state-of-the-art facility stands as Indiana's largest automated cold storage facility, boasting Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) technology and accommodating over 100,000 pallet positions. Colmac Coil contributed several A+Series® A+L Industrial Air Coolers, designed for high efficiency and longer run times between defrosts, to the picking room in this cold storage facility. These air coolers are uniquely designed with inlet air hoods on each tube axial fan and heated gravity dampers on the leaving air side of the coil to contain defrost heat.
In the under $35 million category for 2023, TI Cold was awarded for constructing the CORE X Complete facility in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, United States. This facility showcases a mobile racking system, enabling 40-45% more pallet positions than standard double deep racking, and employs an environmentally friendly transcritical CO2 refrigeration system. Colmac Coil provided several A+Series® A+L Industrial Air Coolers for this project. These units are equipped with EC fan motors that offer built-in fan speed control, hot gas defrost, factory-installed electronic expansion valves, and are UL-207 certified.
