PRESS RELEASE

DATE:  APRIL 21ST , 1998
SUBJECT:  CORROSION PROTECTION BREAKTHROUGH
PRODUCT:  COLMAC "MI"
, MARINE INDUSTRIAL COIL CONSTRUCTION

ANNOUNCING:

In their ongoing effort to provide the commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration markets with state-of-the-art corrosion protection technology, Colmac R&D engineers have announced an all new corrosion resistant coil product. After extended testing in harsh ‘real-world’ marine environments, Colmac engineers have identified a new combination of fin and tube materials which effectively resists corrosion in harsh marine (salt), and industrial environments. The new technology uses highly conductive base metals for both tubes and fins which are coated with multiple proprietary protection systems prior to fabrication. The result is a new coil protection system which offers outstanding heat transfer and corrosion resistance characteristics at lower prices compared to all copper or cupro-nickel construction, or conventional baked phenolic coil coatings.

Colmac "MI" Colmac "MI" coil construction is available for use with water, glycols, or halocarbon ("freon") refrigerants. Refrigeration air-coolers and air-cooled condensers are available with Colmac "MI" construction, as well as chilled and hot water, evaporator, and condenser coils. New or replacement coils for commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration equipment located near the sea shore or on board ships are ideal applications for this new technology. Many applications for the Colmac HPA line require that the heat pumps be located outdoors in marine environments such as resort hotels, and multi-family dwellings. Standard coil construction with plain aluminum fins on copper tubes corrodes quickly under these conditions. The new Colmac "MI" coil construction now gives engineers and contractors a cost effective way to beat coil corrosion in marine environments!
